Project Context:
The Funguka! Road Safety initiative is a research campaign that aims to reduce road
accidents by encouraging passengers in buses to speak out directly to their drivers against
reckless driving. The initiative is supported by Sumatra, Taboa, Traffic Police and USAID. It
is administered through Georgetown University and Digital Divide Data Tanzania. We will be
conducting a randomized control trial studing upcounty buses for a period of one year.
Job description

The enumerator will be responsible for distributing and inspecting safety stickers to up
country busses at the bus terminals in their respective region and collecting information on
each vehicle that has received the stickers.
Enumerator will be required to travel to neighboring regions for data collection and sticker
distribution. They will maintain strong relationships with Traffic Police in those regions.
The candidate must be a current resident of Mbeya city.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Travel to regions within Tanzania for data collectionSend data collected to supervisorsAssist in the distribution of stickers for the Funguka! projectRespond to questions about the project from drivers, owners or any relevant personAssist the drivers in placing the stickers in the right placesCollect the relevant information as instructed by the Funguka! management teamProvide feedback to the Funguka! team on the progressAct as a link between Funguka! office team and the drivers, owners and relevant parties involvedEnsure successful and accurate collection of dataReport back on progress and new ideas to the project assistant and managerMaintain the interest and trust of the involved partiesSupport the Funguka! team in spreading the messageInspecting the vehicles after the lottery has been conductedAwarding prizes to the winners with a representative from Taboa in each regionAnd any other necessary tasks in the project
Qualifications
Advanced certificate for secondary school educationAbility to collaborate with a team and also work independentlyLocated in Mbeya cityMust be available for the full duration of the programAbility to communicate fluently in oral or written English, Swahili, and other local languages applicable to the region hiredLong time experience in doing researchStrong work ethic and proactive attitude in pointing out challenges and asking questionsInitiative and leadership skills to brainstorm and implement new ideasSelf-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage changing responsibilitiesProven ability to be flexible and work hard
