Locally known as the Walter Reed Southern Highlands AIDS Program, the Henry Jackson Foundation Medical Research International(HJFMRI) is an international non-governmental organization working in several countries conducting research studies and providing care and treatment to people affected by HIV/AIDS. HJFMRI is funded by the Presidents Emergency
Plan for AIDS Relief PEPFAR.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHSW), HJFMRI has been leading a comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment program in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania since 2004 with support from the President's Emergency Plans for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The program is based in the Mbeya and has since extended to more than 100 health facilities in Mbeya, Rukwa and Ruvuma regions, which collectively represent a catchment area of about 6 million people. Mbeya region is one of high prevalence regions in Tanzania and expansion of HIV care and treatment programs is critical.
Walter Reed Program is seeking qualified candidate to fill the positions below.

Job Title IT Officer
Reports to IT Manager
Location Mbeya

General Overview:
The information Technology Officer reports to the IT Manager and monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks of HJFMRI-Tanzania ..
The IT Officer installs and configures computer systems, diagnoses hardware and software' faults and solves technical and applications problems, either over the phone or in person .

Duties and responsibilities:
Provides technical supervision of the IT assistant; supervises as .directed; annually updates IT job descriptions; completes IT staff evaluations;'
Creates and maintains LAN/WAN maintenance logs;
Provides technical support and routine preventive maintenance to telephone, photocopiers and email requests from users for all PC hardware, software and associated peripherals;
Logs support calls and document their outcome to facilitate the resolution of common queries;
Redirects or escalate support requests to the appropriate member of the IT department as maybe needed;
Pro-actively provides information to users on the progress of out- standing support calls; .
Contributes to ensuring that the Help Desk systems and software are kept up to date and messages are passed on and feedback received promptly;
Deploys PCs and associated peripherals including new installations and the redeployment of existing equipment; .-
Installs and configure operating systems to agreed standards under the direction of the IT Manager;
Maintains the existing PCs and peripherals to standards determined by the Team leader, by performin upgrades, new installations and carrying out routine procedures;
Helps the Support Assistants develop their skills and knowledge with respect to front-line support;
Assists in the compilation and maintenance of an accurate inventory of hardware and software;
Assists in the compilation of the Support Centre's technical documentation, guidelines and procedures and ensure they are disseminated to users;
Provides at all times a professional, courteous and rapid response to individual users;
Undertakes such other work as may be assigned which is consistent with the-nature of the JOQ and its level of responsibility;
Establishes and maintain effective working relationships within and outside local government;
Maintains personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training;
Undertakes such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from three-year College or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of technical education and experience. .
Computer Skills:
The following computer proficiency is (are) required: Internet Explorer; Microsoft Access; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft PowerPoint; Microsoft Publisher; Microsoft Word; Lotus Notes.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts (basic math).
• Knowledge of and experience with: LANS/WANS; Windows Server
• Environment; Microsoft SQL Server; Microsoft Exchange: Internet
• Information Services; backup systems; network/workstation peripherals; print servers; firewalls, spam & antivirus hardware/software;
• JavaScript, HTML, Cascading Style Sheets; computer hardware (re-placing hard drives, hardware drivers, etc.)
