Project: Nutrition Awareness and Cash Crops Value Chain Project

LOCATION: Kilosa and Gairo Districts, Morogoro; Tanzania
DURATION & HOURS: 40 hours a week, 2 years fixed term contract Farm Africa Tanzania
The Nutrition Awareness and Cash Crops Value Chain Project is a partnership programme implemented by Farm Africa and SUGECO in the districts of Gairo and Kilosa in southern Morogoro, Tanzania. The project will support smallholder farmers in the region to grow and sell high quality cash crops such as orange flesh sweet potato and quality protein maize. Alongside improving agricultural knowledge and inputs, the project will support farmers to access profitable markets for these crops through addressing market barriers for smallholders. Reporting to Farm Africas Programme Manager, the Project Coordinator will be the most senior officer in the project and will have oversight of all project field and office activities. S/He will represent the project and Farm Africa in liaising with relevant district, regional and when necessary national authorities. The project coordinator will be placed on secondment to SUGECO to support project implementation and effectively support the Programme Manager in capacity building of SUGECO implementing this project. This project is implemented with support from Farm Africa and funding from BIG LOTTERY FUND.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Coordinator will oversee the project implementation by Farm Africa and SUGECO and will be responsible for Project implementation that is coordinating Plan and ensure all project outputs, as listed in the project documents, are effectively achieved. Monitoring& Evaluation to include Working with Farm Africa's M&E Manager to develop a Monitoring and Learning Plan for the project. Project Management to ensure the smooth implementation, management and sustainability of all project activities and livelihood initiatives in the project sites. Staff Management specifically Supervising staff and ensure they provide the required inputs for successful project implementation. Project Development through providing support in identifying new funding opportunities within the country for the project.Finance management To ensure project expenditure is in line with the annual budgets and donor contractual obligations. Networking to maintain a cordial working relationship with all the relevant NGO partners within and around the district. Reporting including Compiling monthly, quarterly and annual reports and work plans and perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Farm Africa Country Director/Programme Manager.
We are seeking someone with a proven strong understanding of value chain development, crop production and marketing. A minimum of 5 years working experience with NGOs specializing in rural development and partnership delivery. The post holder should have excellent Experience in helping design and implement innovative projects and of working with agricultural communities to develop value chains.
