HAULING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II – DUMP TRUCK (8 VACANCIES)

Acacia Mining seeks to employ eight (8) Hauling Equipment Operator’s II – Dump Truck based at North Mara Gold Mine. These roles report to the Open Pit First Line Leader and the role holders will be accountable to ensure that the assigned Dump Truck is operated effectively, according to standard operating procedures and that required maintenance procedures and practices are maintained to international standards, in a safe and cost effective manner.

These are permanent roles, with the work roster being seven (7) days day shift, seven (7) days night shift and seven (7) days off.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Actively participate in in toolbox meetings and contribute value-adding ideas to safety around the work place.
• Complete thorough pre-start checks ensuring that:
o fluids are at correct working ranges;
o the track chain is not worn out beyond acceptable limit and not loose / too tight;
o there are no loose or missing bolts;
o guards are in place and firmly bolted;
o head, rear and tail lights are clean and working;
o the reverse alarm is audible from afar;
o brakes, steering, transmission and hydraulic controls are tested for effective functionality and;
o tyres are not damaged and are properly inflated.
• Immediately report any identified faults to the First Line Leader.
• Review the work place / area to identify hazards and report them accordingly.
• Adhere to safe work practices when operating the Loader and ensure that standard operating procedures are followed, including the use of the correct PPE.
• Observe and adhere to all speed limits and traffic signs along the haul road whilst operating the Loader.
• Report all incidents/ accidents and safety breaches and assist with investigations as required.
• Ensure proper housekeeping of the work area, including keeping the Dump Truck cab clean, and steps /ladders free from obstruction or slippery conditions.
• Participate in pre-shift meetings/ daily line ups.
• Manoeuvre the Dump Truck to suit the space available and accomplish the assigned task safely.
• Follow the acceptable pattern for entering the dump or loading area and dumping material.
• Select proper gears for going up and down the ramp.
• Select proper and apply correct brakes for all Dump Truck operation cycles.
• Deliver the Dump Truck timely for planned maintenance.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

• Certificate of Secondary School Education
• Hauling Equipment Operator – Dump Truck or similar Certification
• Valid Tanzanian Driving License

Experience Requirements:

• 3 - 5 Years’ experience operating a Dump Truck in the mining environment

• Construct ramps and cambers with acceptable angles.
• Clean drill patterns as directed and work at inclined areas safely with regard to the dozer angle of inclination.
• Construct tip heads to the standard height.
• Cuts drainage for water to flow away from dumps, haul roads or the loading areas.
• Remove spillages on the haul road or ramps as the operator trams from one location to another.

INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST

Acacia Mining seeks to employ an Industrial Hygienist based at Buzwagi Mine. This role reports to the Section Leader Health & Safety and the role holder will be accountable to give direction and technical advice on Industrial Hygiene to the Buzwagi workforce to ensure optimum and safe production at minimum cost in accordance with Acacia Buzwagi Occupational, Health and Safety standards and procedures, and statutory requirements. The incumbent will conduct Industrial Hygiene monitoring, surveys, investigations and inspections for the purpose of ensuring legislative compliance and meeting corporate guidelines.

This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assess the work place for occupational health hazards by observing work conditions, assessing records, conducting interviews, sampling and monitoring chemical or physical agents.
• Determine appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies, and conduct these activities.
• Maintain, operate and calibrate a variety of sampling and monitoring equipment.
• Evaluate and interpret monitoring and sampling results and develop corrective actions.
• Prepare accurate and complete technical reports of survey findings and provide recommendations on how to correct hazardous conditions.
• Provision of cost effective and comprehensive Industrial Hygiene services that meets the site’s requirements and assists the site to achieve legislative compliance.
• Provide technical advice and support to emergency response personnel with regard to potential chemical exposure or other health hazards/ hazardous materials incidents.
• Interact with customers, including Mining Contractors by providing support and advice on Industrial Hygiene matters.
• Complete reports on time and with accurate information by recording observations, occurrences, and surveillance activities.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

• Degree or Advance Diploma in Health and safety from reputable University
• Post graduate training in Industrial Hygiene from reputable University

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Industrial/Occupational Hygienist role
• Must have exposure to large scale mining or industrial environments involving a wide range of workplace tasks.
• If you’re registered to the International Industrial/Occupational Hygiene boards will be an added advantage.

Skills / Knowledge Requirements:

• Knowledge of occupational health standards, codes and regulations
• Knowledge of methods, procedures and techniques used in collecting and testing samples such as dust, mist, fumes, vapor, noise, non-ionizing radiation, cold and heat stress and biological agents etc.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Power Point

Acacia Mining seeks to employ an Environmental Officer based at Buzwagi Mine. This role reports to the Environmental Section Leader and the role holder will be accountable to ensure regulatory compliance and contribute to the development and implementation of best practice environmental programs and improvements. The incumbent will provide environmental data, information and advice to enable operations personnel to maximize productivity whilst minimizing environmental impact.

This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Maintain and update the Environmental Database with accurate and relevant content.
• Ensure that Environmental Policies and Procedures are reviewed, updated and improved on.
• Ensure that Environmental processes are implemented effectively, e.g. Waste & Water Management, Rehabilitation and Environmental Awareness.
• Compile accurate and timely daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc sampling information.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual Environmental/ Technical Reports, including statutory reporting.
