The International Republican Institute (IRI) is a Washington, D.C. based nonpartisan, nongovernmental organization dedicated to advancing democracy worldwide by developing political parties, civic institutions, open elections, democratic governance, and the rule of law.  IRI has supported the promotion of democratic governance in Tanzania since 2013 and opened its first office in Tanzania in 2015.  With funding from USAID, the Institute seeks to:
• Strengthen the capability and transparency of Tanzanian media
• Support campaigns to increase youth engagement in the political and electoral process
• Work with newly elected and appointed women and youth members of parliament to build their capacity.
The International Republican Institute is competitively recruiting a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to support its peace and elections.  

POSITION: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be responsible for implementing the Employer’s Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP) as well provide a full range of monitoring and reporting support to the program and its sub grantees in Tanzania.  The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer reports to the Country Director (CD). 
Duties & Responsibilities 
• Take lead in the monitoring and evaluation of all program activities including development of tools, reporting,  data collection and documentation
• Collate and submit weekly and quarterly reports
• Participate in the planning and implementation of training activities for IRI staff, partners and sub grantees;
• Research, write, and edit program documents, news summaries, and training materials
• Actively contribute to team projects and develops work product in collaboration with other program staff
• Travel frequently to various locations throughout Tanzania, independently and as part of a team, to support programmatic objectives
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Minimum Qualifications 
• A bachelor's degree, preferably in either International Relations, Political Science, Law or a related subject; 
• Minimum of two years’ relevant experience; 
• Demonstrated computer proficiency and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and basic online applications; 
• Must be able to travel to new environments for extended periods, and work both independently and as a member of a team
Desired Competency and Experience
• Proven capacity to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and under tight deadlines
• Pays attention to detail
• Experience working for an international organization or business or on a donor funded project- preferably USAID
• Experience in managing logistics/administration of donor funded projects
• well-developed report writing skills
• Ability to provide logistical and administrative support to multiple projects
• Ability to analyze information, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
