CDM Smith is currently looking for an Urban Water Civil Engineer for a large-scale water, sanitation and water resources infrastructure project in East Africa.
Job Responsibilities:
Discipline Lead for a water supply infrastructure component associated with a water and sanitation projectActively support the procurement and contract negotiations with professional service providersSupport the team to ensure compliance of CDM Smith’s budget, scope, schedule, quality and reporting requirements on various infrastructure assignmentsManagement and oversight of consulting engineering teams contracted to design and supervise the infrastructure works packagesAdvice and counsel to the client and donors on matters relating to the project’s success, including project delivery, strategies, procurement, contract management, design and construction oversight, and commissioningRegular reporting to both client and other stakeholders as requiredAdherence to CDM Smith’s quality management program (QMP)Serve as the focal point for local issues including local staff and sub-consultants, interpretation of events on the ground, and contact for selected program stakeholders.Liaise with other agencies/government bodies/donors to ensure coordination and works suitability.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, from an accredited universityChartered/Professional Membership from an internationally recognized institution15 years of experience in feasibility study, detailed engineering design, procurement, construction supervision, contract administration and project management in similar sanitation projects.Experience as a project manager on at least 4 design and construction supervision contracts with water and/or sanitation.Recent experience in Sub-Saharan AfricaExperience on two projects implemented under FIDIC Conditions of ContractExcellent oral and written communications skills in English, including the ability to prepare reports.Ability to work as part of a high-performing and multi-disciplinary team, often operating under tight deadlines and timetables.Ability to function independently and manage a teamAn understanding of, and commitment to CDM Smith mission and Core Values
