WhatsApp is a popular messaging application for both the Android and iOS system. It can be quickly installed via Google’s Play Store or Apple’s App Store for your particular operating system. Its voice call feature was recently introduced last April, 2015.
Let us take a look first on how to install the app on an Android device.
Simply turn on your Wi-Fi or data connection on your mobile (we suggest the use of Wi-Fi only since using Data can incur you a lot of charges specially when downloading stuffs) and connect to the internet. Open the Play Store app and search for the WhatsApp application.
Once you have located the app, simply click the install button and the application will be automatically installed on your android mobile device.
The procedure is identical for the iOS system. Just open Apple’s App Store, find the WhatsApp program and click install. Simple.
There are also versions for other operating systems but since installation of the app is almost the same for all OSes, we will continue on how to make free calls using WhatsApp once it is installed on you particular device.
- After installing WhatsApp, the app will activate your device to enable you to make free calls via the internet.
- Ask a friend who has the app installed on his/her device to call you using WhatsApp.
- Once activated and connected, you can now invite friends to install WhatsApp on their devices so you can take advantage of free calls via the internet. You may also receive invitations from other friends who has the app already installed on their gadgets.
- That’s it! You are now part of the WhatsApp community.
Remember, the application offers additional premium features via in-app purchases if you want to make non-internet calls to other mobiles or landline phones but compared to the charges made by telecom service providers, WhatsApp’s premium service is far cheaper. WhatsApp calls are very clear especially if both parties have speedy internet connections (which almost all of us have) and having a free service, who needs expensive paid service from Telecommunication companies?
The app is continually being improved by its developers and next on their agenda is to incorporate a much better video calling service. Video calling requires a lot bandwidth so the developers are experimenting on ways of improving video calls to give the masses the best video calling experience of all. We will be standing by for this one.
Have you installed WhatsApp on your device? If not, it’s about time you did.
